Blue whale massacre crustaceans

The blue whale, the worlds largest animal at 110 feet according to guiness world records eat krill, which are shrimp-like crustaceans only about an inch-and-a-half long.

Pick on somebody your own size? Not whales! An adult whale might slaughter 40 million, or 4-6 tons of these little creatures in one day!!

Amazingly, the krill population persists, but you have to assume this perpetual atrocity affects the krills ability to develop a stable society.

One of the most important animals in the food chain of the marine ecosystem

The lowly krill averages only about two inches (5 centimeters) in length, but it represents a giant-sized link in the global food chain. These small, shrimp-like crustaceans are essentially the fuel that runs the engine of the Earth’s marine ecosystems.

How shrimp and fish work together

“Cleaner shrimp” feed off the parasites that live on fish. To attract passersby in the market for a cleaning, the shrimp do a little dance. Fish taken in by the shrimps’ choreographed moves will respond by “striking a pose,” which signals the cleaner shrimp to start washing and waxing … kind of like an underwater car wash.
